Description
Cersei Stark has been Queen of The North since 284 AC, the first since Torrhen Stark knelt to Aegon Targaryen. She married Lord Eddard Stark in Riverrun, Capitol of the Riverland Kingdom. This was in the midst of the Sundering Rebellion, after the Battle of Bloody Bells where King Eddard earned his namesake 'Red Wolf'. She was born the eldest daughter of the late Lord Tywin Lannister at Casterly Rock. She is the twin of King Jaime Lannister, and older sister to Lord Tyrion Lannister, Hand to the King of the Westerlands.
Spending most of her youth in Casterly Rock, she accompanied her father to King's Landing, supposedly to be betrothed to the Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen. Nothing came of it, as King Aerys' mental faculties had deteriorated, prompting Lord Tywin's execution for treason after advising against executing Lord Rickard Stark, and his eldest, Brandon Stark. Cersei fled to Riverrun, home of her good-sister Lysa Tully, now Lysa Lannister, and it is where she spent most of the Sundering Rebellion. It was there that she met Lord Eddard Stark, married him, and later birthed him twins, Robert and Joanna Stark.
After the Night of Fire, and the restoration of the Seven Kings, King Eddard Stark and Queen Cersei Stark proceeded to have five more children, Myranda Stark, Edwyle Stark, Jonnel Stark, Tya Stark and the youngest Brandon Stark.
The Queen was at the beginning resented for her southern heritage, and at times was a figure of controversy. Specifically the martial training she has insisted her daughters go through along with her sons and the later introduction of her personal guard, Brienne of Tarth. But as the years came and went she has proven a cunning and adept leader. This was particularly noticeable during the Iron Kinslaying War of 288AC. While King Eddard was leading the invasion of the Iron Islands, the Queen coordinated the defense of the Northern Shores to great effect. Notably ambushing Ironborn making their way to siege Torrhen's Square.
It is also said she is responsible for foiling the plot of Bolton's Treason. Though no account exists, it's said that the Queen through her many spies acquired evidence that Lord Roose Bolton conspired with several of his vassals to overthrow the Starks. Whatever the truth, it was she who placed the former lords head on the spike it now sits in Winterfells Square after the King removed it from Roose's shoulders.
Of all her peculiarities, one that has endeared her most is her devotion to the Old Gods. It seems there isn't a day Queen Cersei isn't seen entering the godswood to pray at the Weirwood and commune with the Forest Child Leaf.

Even if Cersei had fallen in love with Ned (and only in this case she would have played on his side), she had neither strategic thinking nor wisdom. Most likely, it would have been like this - after she gave birth to one or two sons to Ned, she would have moved to white harbor and constantly traveled to the capital and lannisport, missing the southern luxury, and it is unlikely that she would have associated herself with the North.
